1. Who publishes SimplyBar
SimplyBar is a Mac app published by Simplibot. For any question about this policy, write to [email protected].
2. No data collected
SimplyBar collects no personal data and sends nothing: not to Simplibot, not to a partner, not to any third party service. Simplibot therefore holds no information about you or your Mac.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting tool. It asks for no sign-up and no login.
3. No network access
SimplyBar runs inside the macOS App Sandbox, which only grants an app the permissions it declares. SimplyBar declares only two: the sandbox itself, and a private folder shared with its widgets (App Group).
The permission to connect to the network is not one of them. macOS therefore blocks every connection, from the app and from its widgets.
The speeds shown by the Network module come from macOS counters, which tell how many bytes go through. SimplyBar does not see the content of that traffic.
4. What the app reads on your Mac
To show its measurements, SimplyBar reads from macOS:
- processor usage, in total and per core;
- memory usage and memory pressure;
- the counters of bytes sent and received, and your Mac's local IP address, shown in the Network window;
- the total, used, free and purgeable space of your disks, and their names;
- graphics chip (GPU) usage;
- the name and battery level of the Bluetooth devices that report it.
These values are only used for display. The histories in the detail windows (the last 50 measurements) stay in memory and are gone when the app quits.
5. What is stored on your Mac
- Your settings (modules shown, styles, launch at login), in the app's preferences.
- The widgets' numbers: a small file with the latest measurements, short histories and, if you use the Storage widget, the name and size of your disks. It is written in the private container the app shares with its widgets (App Group). It only serves them and never leaves your Mac.
- The macOS log, which stays on your Mac: at launch, one technical line with the size of the startup disk and of the memory; when something fails, its error code.
SimplyBar does not send or copy these files anywhere else.
6. Links
SimplyBar's only links open your browser on the app's pages on simplibot.fr (overview, privacy, support), or your mail app to write to [email protected]. One link also opens its Mac App Store page, to leave a review.
The app adds no information about you or your Mac to these addresses.
7. Retention, access and deletion
Simplibot receives no data: there is nothing to keep, view, correct or delete on our side. On your Mac, you can hide a module, remove a widget or delete the app at any time.
8. Children
SimplyBar collects no data, including about children.
9. Open source code
SimplyBar's code is public, under the MIT license, on GitHub. Anyone can check what this page describes there, starting with the app's list of permissions (the SimplyBar.entitlements file).
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page, with its date.
